Is a padel racket a good gift? 7 gifts for padel players
A padel racket is a good gift when the person plays recreationally, from beginner to intermediate level, and is not attached to one model. It is risky for advanced players with a firm preference for model, weight and balance, who keep their own match racket. A personalised racket works as a second racket or a keepsake, or pick another gift.

Most gift guides are firm about it: never buy someone a padel racket, it is too personal. That is partly true. A racket is like a pair of running shoes: a player with years on court knows exactly what they want. For the much larger group who play once or twice a week with friends, it is a different story. Below: when a racket is a sensible choice among gifts for padel players, when it is not, what to give instead, and the dates to order by for Christmas 2026.
We make and sell personalised padel rackets, so we have an interest in the answer. That is exactly why we are also clear about when a racket is the wrong present.
When is a padel racket a good gift?
A racket is a safe choice if one or more of these apply:
- They play for fun. Once or twice a week with friends, colleagues or at the club. At that level a few grams or a slightly different balance make little difference to their game.
- They do not own a racket yet. Anyone still playing with a hire racket or a basic entry model gains from any decent racket.
- The present marks a moment. A birthday, a wedding, a retirement or a first season at the club. What is on the face then counts for more than the specifications.
- You play together. For a couple, a parent and child or two regular partners there is the Duo Deal: two Full Custom rackets for €200.
Our base racket is built for that group. It has a 3K carbon face, an EVA foam core and weighs about 360 grams. It is an all-round racket for recreational players from beginner to intermediate level. Someone who plays competitively at a high level and feels every change in balance will choose their own brand model, and that is fine.
When is a racket a risky gift, and what can you give instead?
A racket is risky when the person plays at an advanced level and has a clear preference for a particular model, weight or balance. After years with the same type of racket, they know exactly how it feels on a volley or a smash. Anything else feels strange, even if it is a good racket. The likely outcome: the present stays at home and the usual racket goes to the court.
That does not rule out a padel present. Three routes:
- A second racket. Many advanced players keep their own match racket and use a personalised one for social games, as a spare in the bag or to lend to a guest. Our comparison of custom and brand rackets explains where each one fits.
- A keepsake. A racket with a wedding date, a club crest or the score of a final does not need to be played every week to mean something.
- Something else. Balls, a bag, a cover, a lesson with a coach or a padel trip do not interfere with anyone’s game. The table below compares them.
One thing to know before you order. A personalised racket is made for one specific person, so the usual right to cancel an online purchase within 14 days does not apply. In principle we do not take personalised rackets back. If it does not suit them, get in touch and we will look at the situation case by case, but there is no entitlement to a return. Manufacturing faults are covered by a warranty of 12 months. If you are genuinely unsure about their preferences, do not give a racket that is meant to become their main one.
How personalisation fixes the generic present problem
The real objection to a racket as a present is usually that it is generic: something they could have picked themselves in a shop, and perhaps picked better. Personalisation changes that. It becomes a racket only you could have given. Four things do the work:
- A name. First name, nickname or initials on the face. Short text stays readable from the other side of the court. Examples are in padel racket with a name.
- A photo. The two of you, the kids, the dog or the court where it all started. Upload it as a PNG or JPG.
- A logo. A club crest, the badge of a group of friends or a symbol of your own. An SVG file keeps the lines sharp.
- A date. A wedding date, the year of a first tournament or a last day at work, for example along the side with Full Custom.
You make the design yourself in the designer and see it straight away in a 3D preview. No account is needed: your design is saved locally in your browser. We check every design within 24 hours and only get in touch if something is off, such as a photo with too low a resolution. The design is printed in full colour on a sticker with a protective layer that resists UV light, and applied in our workshop in the Netherlands.
Gifts for padel players compared: price and lead time
Seven common padel gifts side by side. Only our own prices are exact. The other figures are indicative ranges of what these usually cost; they vary by brand, shop and country.
| Gift | Price | Lead time | A good fit when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personalised racket (Custom Your Padel) | Exact: €99.99 with a personalised face, €119.99 for Full Custom with the side as well, €200 for two (Duo Deal) | 7 days of finishing, then at most 3 days of shipping (Netherlands: delivered within 7 days) | it should feel personal, for a recreational player or as a second racket |

| Padel bag | Typically €30 to €150 | Often 1 to 3 days | they still carry their racket in a general sports bag |

Order-by dates for Christmas 2026
We count back from the day itself: 7 days of finishing in our workshop, at most 3 days of shipping with DHL, and 3 days of extra margin in December, when carriers are busier.
| Destination | Christmas Day | Order by | Shipping |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ireland | Friday 25 December 2026 | Saturday 12 December 2026 | €16.95 |
| United Kingdom | Friday 25 December 2026 | Saturday 12 December 2026, earlier if you can | €17.95, import charges for the recipient |
| Other EU countries | Friday 25 December 2026 | Saturday 12 December 2026 | From €6.95 (Netherlands) to €29.95 (Cyprus) |
The United Kingdom is outside the EU, so the parcel goes through customs. Allow a few extra days, and expect DHL to ask the recipient for import duties and VAT before delivery, which is worth knowing for a present. If you are past the date, email info@customyourpadel.nl before you order: finishing faster than 7 days is only possible on request and is not a standard service. Business orders of 5 rackets or more take 7 to 14 days, so place those in November.
Tips if you do not know their preferences, and for the unwrapping
- Ask a playing partner. A regular partner or club mate usually knows which racket they use and whether it is a heavy or a light one.
- Look at what they play with now. A hire racket or a basic entry model? An all-round racket of about 360 grams suits them. A heavy racket built for power? Make it a second racket or a keepsake.
- Make the design about them, not you. Club colours, a nickname or a date that matters to them. Keep the text short.
- Do not show the design in advance. The 3D preview is tempting to share, but unwrapping it is part of the present.
- Add something to play with straight away. A tube of balls or a premium cover with shoulder strap (€15 extra), so the racket can go on court that same week.

Frequently asked questions
Is a padel racket a good gift for a beginner?
Yes. Beginners rarely have a fixed preference for model, weight or balance yet. Our all-round racket of about 360 grams with a 3K carbon face is made for recreational players from beginner to intermediate level, and a name or photo on it makes it theirs.
What if they already have a racket they like?
Then a personalised racket works mainly as a second racket: for social games, as a spare or to lend out. Advanced players usually keep their own match racket. If that does not appeal, choose balls, a bag, a lesson with a coach or a padel trip.
Can I return a personalised racket if it does not suit them?
In principle, no. A personalised racket is made for one person, so the usual right to cancel an online purchase within 14 days does not apply. If there is a problem, contact us and we will look at it case by case, but there is no entitlement to a return. Manufacturing faults are covered by a warranty of 12 months.
When do I need to order for Christmas 2026?
By Saturday 12 December 2026. That covers 7 days of finishing, at most 3 days of shipping with DHL and a few days of margin before Friday 25 December. For the United Kingdom, order a few days earlier because of customs.
How much does a personalised padel racket cost as a gift?
€99.99 with a personalised face, €119.99 for Full Custom with the side as well, and €200 for two Full Custom rackets as a Duo Deal. A premium cover is €15 extra, or €35 with your design. Prices include VAT; shipping is shown at checkout and depends on the country.
Which padel gift works if I do not know their preferences?
Something that does not touch how they play: balls, a cover, a bag, a lesson or a padel trip. If you still want something personal, give a personalised racket as a second racket or a keepsake, with a name or date on it.
